Introducing OLAPLEX’s first-ever scientific advisory board! The OLAPLEX Scientific Advisory board is a group of leading experts in dermatology. Together, we will advance our mission of improving hair health through science. OLAPLEX engaged this expert group of doctors to enrich our educational content, ensuring that we provide the best hair health education to our valued community. One thing we love about the OLAPLEX community is how much you research the products you love, so we’re thrilled to have the OLAPLEX Scientific Advisory Board to help you dive into all things OLAPLEX!

Meet the Scientific Advisory Board

 

Crystal Aguh, MD, FAAD is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Director of the Ethnic Skin Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and author of the ‘90 Days to Beautiful Hair’ book series. Dr. Aguh’s area of research focuses primarily on skin conditions that disproportionately impact minority populations, with particular emphasis on scarring hair loss and hair care practices. She has authored four books on hair loss in her 90 Days to Beautiful Hair series and has published over three dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and given multiple national and international talks on these topics. She has been featured in multiple prominent media outlets including  The New York Times, Essence Magazine, NPR, ABC News, US News and many more.

Zoe Diana Draelos, MD, FAAD, is a research and clinical board-certified dermatologist as well as a Past Vice President of the American Academy of Dermatology. She directs Dermatology Consulting Services PLLC, a free-standing dermatology research center specializing in hair, skin, and nails product design, formulation, and testing in both the OTC and pharmaceutical arenas. Recognized as a pioneer in cosmetic dermatology and elected as a Rhodes Scholar, Dr. Draelos has contributed to 44 textbooks, presented 173 posters, served as the principal investigator on 862 studies, and written 650 published papers. She routinely shares expertise with others through lectures, demonstrations, and the many textbooks she has authored. In 2019, she was the inaugural recipient of the Florence Wall Award from the Society of Cosmetics Chemists, naming her as the most influential woman in cosmetic science.

 

Claire Hollins, MD, FAAD is a dermatologist with an interest in hair and scalp disorders, and an assistant professor at Penn State who treats patients at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Her job is primarily patient-care focused, but also centers on education, research, and community health. She serves as the director of Central Pennsylvania’s only Skin of Color Clinic, focusing on skin and hair conditions more likely to affect deeper skin toned individuals, while serving patients who have traditionally been underserved. Dr. Hollins graduated from the Morehouse School of Medicine in 2015 and has 8 years of experience. To learn more about Dr. Hollins, here is a spotlight piece from VisualDX.

Arash Mostaghimi, MD, MPH, FAAD is assistant professor of dermatology at Harvard University, director of the inpatient dermatology consult service, and co-director of the Complex Medical Dermatology Fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He is a board-certified internist and dermatologist and a practicing physician who specializes in the dermatologic care of patients who are in the hospital and with complex dermatology disorders. His daughter has alopecia areata, and a portion of his research is focused on understanding the epidemiology and clinical impact of this disease. In addition, he is involved in clinical trials focused on bringing innovative therapies for alopecia areata to patients who need them the most.
