Every Day is Earth Day!

Every day is a good day to care about the planet, but on Earth Day, it’s the one day a year we can align to do more. While everyone’s Earth Day trajectory is different, we are all engaging in ways that better the planet, from decreasing our electricity usage, planting trees, and walking more. It’s also an enlivening time to reassess our daily practices to ones that are more sustainable. At OLAPLEX, our annual goal is to be kinder to the planet than we were the year before. Here are some ways you can re-evaluate your life to do the same for our planet:

Decrease plastic and paper use

  • Set up paperless billing and mail
  • Take reusable bags to the grocery store
  • Frequent the bulk section at the grocery to avoid secondary packaging
  • Use reusable food storage containers
  • Use reusable mugs for your morning coffee

Gentler transportation

  • Walk as much as possible
  • Carpool to work or outings
  • Ride your bicycle rather than driving
  • Take public transportation

Recycle

  • Buy second hand
  • When you buy secondary packaging, always remember to recycle (hot tip: remember to empty, clean and dry)
  • Utilize organizations that help make magic out of your waste, like Retold Recycling. They recycle your textiles for you!
  • Compost your food waste

Leave Earth better than you found it

  • Try a vegan lifestyle
  • Grow your own food
  • Plant trees
  • Leave no trace when you’re out in nature

Since day one, our mission was to create less harm. This is why we eliminate most secondary packaging from our line, in other words, no boxes unless absolutely necessary for labeling information! Each product without a box prevents .04 lbs of greenhouse gas emissions from being emitted into the environment and .7 gallons of water! We also preserve 8,239 acres of US land from being deforested, saving 44,000 trees.
